Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 26, 2026
Last updated: September 26, 2026

HoopLink is a basketball scoreboard operated by ezekieldevstudio. It supports a local scoreboard and connected operator/viewer screens. This policy describes the app's current features, including local team/session storage and Android advertising.

1. Accounts and anonymous connections

HoopLink has no registration form, Google sign-in or member accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address or password to use the app. For online games, Supabase Anonymous Auth creates an anonymous user ID and session credentials. These identify the operator or viewer and enforce access permissions; anonymous does not mean that network activity is unidentifiable. Supabase also processes connection and service information, such as IP addresses and authentication logs, to operate and protect the service. Session credentials are retained on your device or in browser storage so you can reconnect.

2. Game state and Realtime

For connected games, Supabase stores a current game row: game ID, operator/viewer anonymous IDs, Public/Private setting, scores, Game Clock and Shot Clock settings and timing baselines, state version/timestamps, and the current matchup's team names, colors, quarter and status. Supabase Realtime sends updates to an authorized viewer. Each screen calculates countdowns locally; the app does not upload a new countdown number every second.

The app keeps the latest shared state rather than a server-side session history or ranking system. The current state can remain after the match ends. Complete matchup rotation, cumulative results and saved team sets are kept locally as described below. Avoid using personal information in team names.

3. Data stored on your device

HoopLink uses local app/browser storage for these values. A new session replaces the locally retained recent session; a new saved team set replaces the previous set. Viewer display choices are screen-local and are not stored in a viewer-settings database.

4. Public, Private and invitations

Private is the default. Currently both Public and Private games require the game link or ID, have no public directory or search, and support the existing single viewer slot. The operator can change its own game; the viewer is read-only. Public is not a promise that the game is listed for everyone, and Private is not a password-protected room.

The QR code is generated on the device and contains the viewer link and game ID. Copy Link writes that link to the system clipboard. Share opens your operating system's share interface; the app you choose receives the link under its own policies. Anyone you send the link to may forward it, so share it only with the intended viewer. Scanning uses another camera app; HoopLink does not include an in-app scanner. Sharing is initiated by you.

5. Android advertising and consent

HoopLink uses Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK, and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) for consent. The app checks whether ads may be requested before initializing the SDK. Ads are disabled in the web version, Expo Go and iOS in the current implementation.

Placements are a home Banner, a separate Banner at the bottom of the expanded management panel, an optional rewarded ad from home, and an eligible preloaded Interstitial after End Session. No ad is placed in the main score/clock controls, viewer, Clock settings or Invite body. End Match, End Quarter and Next Match do not trigger an Interstitial.

Only the SDK's earned-reward event grants ad-free access until the device's local midnight. That state hides both Banners and the End Session Interstitial and stays on the device. Rewarded ads are optional. Ending a session does not require an ad to load.

Google's advertising SDK can collect and share IP addresses (including approximate location inferred from them), device or advertising identifiers, ad/product interactions, and diagnostic/performance information for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. Processing depends on SDK settings, consent and applicable requirements. This is distinct from installing a separate app analytics service. See Google's Privacy Policy and Google Mobile Ads data disclosures. Android's advertising privacy settings provide controls for your advertising ID. Consent messages are presented when required by the SDK's configured flow.

6. Services, permissions and information we do not request

The app integrates Supabase for authentication, database access and Realtime, and Google AdMob/Mobile Ads/UMP for Android ads and consent. See Supabase's Privacy Policy. This policy page is hosted through GitHub Pages when published; see GitHub's Privacy Statement for website access information.

HoopLink does not integrate a separate app analytics or crash-reporting service, payments, push notifications or social login. Its features do not request access to your contacts, precise location, microphone, photo library or camera. The app does not read your clipboard to obtain invitations; copying a link writes only the link you selected. Advertising and service SDK diagnostics described above may still be processed.

7. Retention and deletion

Local settings and recent results remain until replaced or removed through the app's available controls, clearing app/browser storage, or uninstalling the app. Clearing storage can remove your anonymous identity and prevent recovery of an existing operator/viewer connection. It does not delete data already stored remotely.

The current implementation has no automatic expiry for remote game rows or anonymous users and no in-app remote deletion control. To request deletion of game data under our control, contact us and provide the relevant game ID if available. We will review the request and may need enough information to verify that it concerns your game. Do not send authentication tokens or passwords. Provider logs and backups follow the relevant provider's retention practices; we cannot promise immediate removal from every backup. If you email us, we receive your address and the information you choose to send to handle your request.

8. Children

HoopLink is a general-purpose basketball scoring tool. It does not create child profiles, collect ages or maintain player rosters. Do not put children's personal details in team names or shared links. If you believe a child's personal information has been provided through the app, contact us so we can review and address it. Advertising choices and consent requirements may vary by region; the app does not determine a user's age.

9. Security

Online connections use the configured secure Supabase endpoints. Database access policies restrict game editing to its operator and reading to permitted participants. No system can guarantee absolute security. Keep your device, session credentials and invitation links secure. Third-party providers may process data outside your country under their own terms and safeguards.

10. Policy changes

We may revise this page when features or data practices change. The last-updated date identifies the current version. Material changes will be described through this policy or an appropriate app notice.
